Earlier this morning I participated in a session of Lectio Divina with friends from the Carmelite Centre in Middle Park.  I’ve been participating in these weekly sessions for about two years, having started at a time on my journey when my own practice of Lectio had become difficult for me.  At the time of joining this group of like-minded people I had intended to stay only as long as I needed the encouragement of a group to continue what for me had been a daily practice of some thirty years standing.  Two years [plus] down the track I’d miss this wonderful group of friends enormously were I to stop attending.  I still engage in a time of Lectio daily, but Friday mornings “with the Carmelites” is now firmly a vital part of my spiritual praxis.
