Meditation for Thursday 14 May 2026
The effects of meditation or developing practices for centreing in our lives are powerful and many.
Centreing, that’s what we do when we meditate, even when our meditation is brief.
Centreing provides a physical grounding for our energy, something that immediately benefits us but additionally benefits those with whom we come into contact with.
In the Christian tradition there is a practice known as Centreing Prayer. Some of our meditators are comfortable in giving this name to their meditation practice.
Having a strong centre minimises or eliminates tension, which as we know can cause multiple problems in our lives.
When we are centred, we are grounded, we have control over our lives even when we are in the midst of chaos.
Some people name the centre as God and that’s just fine. Yet for many people there is nothing particularly religious about centreing, although it has to be said that it is spiritual in the general, broad sense.
Most of us can define the concept of centre but its an entirely different matter to practice meditation and mindfulness that will lead us to that place.
Of course, there are a myriad ways of being centred but for us it is meditation.
So now, let us spend time bringing ourselves to our centre.
