Contemplative, theologian, and social activist, the Cistercian monk Thomas Merton was also an artist, photographer, and poet. This session looks at the stages in Merton’s life through a reading of some of his poems. Creativity as a means to the spiritual life was vital to Merton. We will also look at some of his other art, but the poetry is at the foreground of this biographical exploration. Reading prior to the session: Merton Poetry Sequence
