This is our 40th week of On-Line Meditation and the first for the New Year!
Tonight’s Reflection…
A man caught up in anxiety without a sense of purpose or meaning to his life began a long search for happiness. With help and support from friends and wise teachers he gradually began to live in the moment and as a consequence found the peace he had been seeking for a long time.
Those noticing this profound change began to wonder what he’d become. They asked him if he felt like a God. “No,” he answered. “Well perhaps you’re an angel?”
He laughed and said no he wasn’t an angel. They persisted by suggesting that he was now some kind of magician or wizard. He replied by making a joke about Harry Potter.
After several minutes his friends finally asked, “Then what are you, because you are different?”
He emphasised again that he wasn’t a god, an angel a magician or a wizard. Rather, he said, “I am awake!”
Meditation can be thought of as the art of awakening.
Through mastering this art we learn ways to approach our difficulties and bring wisdom and joy into our life.
And now let’s meditate in the way we are accustomed. You may wish to dedicate this meditation practice to those affected by the pandemic or you might have some other worthy intention.
(Meditate for up to 20 minutes.)
As we go about our daily activities I hope that by our attention, our awareness in the present, our wakefulness ….we will find joy in the midst of the losses brought about during these challenging days..
