On the first Wednesday morning of each month we explore a topic related to the rich tradition of Carmelite Spirituality. Each month the session will be led by a person inspired by Carmelite Spirituality and so part of the broad community of the Carmelite Family.

3 February – Jamie Miller Obl. OSB on A Contemplative Path through Lent
During our time together for the Carmelite Conversation A Contemplative Path through Lent I am planning to provide several ways in which each of us might engage in a contemplative journey through Lent which begins on 17th February with Ash Wednesday. The suggested ‘paths’ are based on my personal experience over recent years. Together, we will explore the possibilities presented by:
- A personal engagement with Lectio Divina (or Sacred Reading)
- Praying the Psalms
- Listening for God’s word to us at this time.
The aim will be to provide a contemplative path to a deeper experience of God, and a more personal relationship with Jesus….. whilst being gentle with ourselves.
All are invited. All are welcome. Please have a notebook and pen handy, and a preparedness to enter into the conversation together.

Jamie is a supporter and participant of the Carmelite Centre programs and has led several of our Carmelite Conversations. He has spent time living in a monastic community and is an Oblate of the Benedictine Community of St. Mark at Camperdown in western Victoria. Jamie is an Anglican, and has filled many different roles in the Church including as an Examining Chaplain for the Anglican Archbishop of Melbourne and as the Deputy Director of Theological Education for the Anglican Diocese of Melbourne.
