With Holy Week and the celebration of Easter approaching, this Carmelite Conversation is incorporating the theme of the 2025 Jubilee Year “Pilgrims of Hope” and thoughts expressed in the book “Mystical Hope: Trusting in the Mercy of God” by Cynthia Bourgeault. It will consider the source of our hope and thoughts expressed by many spiritual writers on the Divine Indwelling. It will invite conversation in response in relation to both our own experiences, our call to be pilgrims of hope and the challenges of living in today’s world.
The Papal document announcing the Jubilee Year is called “Spes non confundit” which means: “Hope does not disappoint” (Romans 5:5) This document can be found here.
The book “Mystical Hope” is described as “five interwoven meditations, [on] how to recognize hope in our own lives, where it comes from, how to deepen it through prayer, and how to carry it into the world as a source of strength and renewal.” This book is available from Jamberoo Abbey bookshop. https://www.jamberooabbey.org.au/shop/books/reflection/mystical-hope/
