REDEEMING THE PAST: Truth and reconciliation in East Timor. As the 20th century ended, the people of Timor-Leste emerged deeply scarred from decades of violence and trauma to be faced with classic moral and political dilemmas about their past.
• As Catholics should they forgive their tormentors?
• As nation-builders should they forget what was done to them and look to the future?
• As victims should they press for justice?
Pat Walsh will discuss how the East Timorese have addressed these and related questions that, in one or other form, are also relevant to other societies in our part of the world, Australia and Indonesia included.

PLEASE BOOK via the form below so appropriate seating and handouts can be organised.
