Event Type

This session will be held in the Library.

Peter will introduce participants to the life and times of Bishop Robinson and his most recent writings in the book Towards the End of My Days.

He was humble, often understated and reluctant to occupy the limelight. A well-regarded theologian and advocate for the just treatment of victims of clerical sexual abuse, he frequently found himself at the frontier of conflict in the church. His last words, shortly before his death written in ‘Towards the End of My Days’ are poetic, fearless, hard-hitting and loving.

In his own words… “It is God’s gift that both individually and together we must constantly search for both truth and goodness in uncertainty, for this is how we grow.’

Bishop Geoffrey Robinson  was born in 1937, ordained in Sydney in 1960 and studied philosophy, theology and canon law in Australia and in Rome. In 1987 he was consecrated as auxiliary bishop of Sydney, retiring due to ill health in 2004. He passed away on 29 December 2020 after a long illness.
