No prior experience of p raying Evening Prayer from the Divine Office is needed.\n\nThe Church at p rayer celebrating the Divine Office\, or as it is more commonly called now \, the Liturgy of the Hours is for everyone\;  to have the opportunity to offer prayer for the whole world\, by daily praise and intercession\, sor row and thanksgiving using the psalms and the reading of scripture for all that is happening in our lives. Jesus prayed the psalms and knew them int imately\; the psalms are poetry\, they use symbolic language but deal with human reality. They express a real relationship between God and his peopl e\, using human characteristics to describe God\, to hold the door open fo r encounter with the living and loving God.\n\nWhen we pray the Liturgy of the Hours we pray with Jesus\; the very words he used.  In the intercess ions we can ask him to listen to us\, or sometimes they join the prayers o f Jesus with our own prayers\, in our requests to the Father.
