During this Carmelite Conversation Matthew will facilitate a conversation engaging with some of John’s poetry and explore how poetry can engage, support and nourish us in our spiritual lives.

John’s prayer, expressed in the language of poetry, draws us into a deeper knowing of prayer as a personal sharing between ourselves and our God who is Love.
John follows in the way of the many great traditions of spirituality and religion that express this relationship in the language of poetry, engaging both mind and heart.
Inspired by the psalmists and poets of the Hebrew Scriptures, John takes up poetry as the expression of his own experience of prayer that is transforming mystical relationship and at the same time grounded in the sufferings of our lives.
His poetry invites us to awaken to the call of the Beloved One in both mind and heart, and to become caught up in the transforming love that frees us and brings us to fullness of life.
