Dear Meditators

This week we will continue our short series of meditations taken from one of John Kirwan’s edited books on Teresa of Avila called “Let Nothing Disturb You.” “This small book is neither a theological or historical compendium, nor a guide to Teresa’s theories. It is a series of meditations drawn from her various works written at difficult times of her life. We will focus on, not so much her great metaphors, but on underlying truths that illuminate the journey to the center of the soul – hers and ours.”

This week on the truth that all things are possible in God:

  • I think often of St Paul’s words “all things are possible in God.” As you set out on your journey take no notice of the warnings people give you, or the dangers they suggest. It is absurd to think you can travel along a road full of bandits to reach a costly treasure with out running any risks.
  • Silence the voices that would discourage me from following the royal road along which your own Son travelled. My happiness will consist not in untroubled, peaceful days, but in the courage to follow your will wherever it may take me.

Relax now in body and mind, slow your breathing, and enter your meditation, centering your prayer, your will and intention on  “all things are possible in God.” I long for courage to follow your will God wherever it may take me. There are risks, but if I have You, I will want for nothing. You alone suffice.

 Love and every blessing
