The topic for this Conversation is The Mother of Jesus and the Beloved Disciple and their Roles in the Spiritual Drama of the Fourth Gospel. It will be facilitated by Hugh Brown OCarm. Mary and the Beloved Disciple appear at pivotal moments in the narrative of the Fourth Gospel. They are integral parts of the symbolic world into which the author wishes to draw his audience so that they can understand and accept Jesus as God’s Word and Son and the source of salvation.
About the presenter: High Brown OCarm has worked in the areas of both tertiary and secondary education, mainly in the area of Scriptural Studies. Also, he has held a position of responsibility in four parishes and, for a time, was both a Secondary School consultant for the Diocese of Sale as well as University Chaplain at Monash University in Gippsland. He is currently doing a Master of Theological Studies at the Australian Catholic University.
